SEA DUCK HUNTING

Without a doubt, the biggest rush in water fowling is for the sea ducks. On some days it is literally shooting as fast as you can load your gun. We leave the dock before sunrise and by the time we get set up the birds have already begun to fly. We either hunt out of one of our two Duck Boats or from our Layout Boat. We usually tow our Layout to the point . It is absolutely incredible shooting. Having a flock of 100 scoters or eiders in over the decoys at less than 15 yards is an unforgettable experience.

Riverhead Field
Quarter mile south of Long Island Sound

The goose hunting on Long Island is world class and fortunately for us we have been able to acquire the hunting rights to, two of the most sought after fields on Long Island. We have fields in both the Eastern and Central Zones. Both fields are over 100 acres of prime goose habitat. Usually we hunt in corn but some years we hunt in rye. It depends upon what the farmer plants for his cover crop. Both are prime for hungry geese. Our pits are strategically located in these fields, as years of experience watching the movement and habits of the geese have taught us that you can’t just put a box in the lot and expect the geese to land on top of it. Ours are camouflaged to match the cover of the field they are in. The pits are dry, heated if needed and comfortable. All hunters are afforded a view of the incoming birds. Most of our shots are fifteen yards or less. We hunt over 150 full body Avery Goose decoys.
